Summer Activities With Your Dog in 2020
So, you’ve got the urge to want to do “normal” summer activities with your dog again. Here are some summer activities to do with you and your four-legged friend!
As summer creeps at our paws, summer nostalgia is hitting us hard while we remain in social isolation. Here are a couple of summer activities with your dog you can still enjoy even during social distancing. You might come across perks too!
Catch some waves
Love water activities?
Go swimming and take your doggo! Pools, reservoirs, and beaches may not be opening in your communities any time soon, but don’t let that spoil your summer.
Bring the experience home, with an inflatable or portable pool. Don’t forget that doggy life jacket. This is a great time to teach your pup how to swim. Swimming doesn’t come naturally for all dogs and every dog needs a life jacket. Click here for more.
Start small and when we are able to fully return to pools, reservoirs beaches, your dog’s life jacket will hold up just as well.
Catch some rays
The possibilities are slightly limited but endless. Think back to one thing you really enjoyed doing last summer? If you are a new pet parent, what are some ways you can include your pup in some of your favorite summer activities?
Love being outdoors?
Make the effort to go camping (if your local state government allows). Make sure your four-legged friend has all of their essentials in their daypack. It’s a great summer activity with dogs.
Go for a hike or trail run. This is a great time to get the blood flowing and your heart rate up while doing something you actually enjoy.
Okay, this one is a little be more restricted. However, you can still invite your favorite furry mate. Hop outside and Barbeque or make a few of your favorite summer meals for yourself. Make sure your pup has a summer treat as well!
Have a picnic at home
Have a picnic in your backyard or patio and pretend you’re at your favorite park. You have to make sure you bring the picnic basket, or it won’t be the same. Next thing you know, it will feel like you’re back at the park.
Maybe you just want to relax, like under the sun
Set up a hammock or comfortable seating and just chill. Fresh air, your pup by your side, add some tunes or a good book and you’re set. That’s a summer activity with your dog that can be very enjoyable.
These activities may not be exactly what you had envisioned this summer, but making the effort to enjoy the weather may help you feel somewhat ‘normal’ again.
