You won’t want to share these goodies with your human trick-or-treaters (though all of these ingredients are totally people-safe, too!), but how can you not have a treat for the doggy who shows up walking with their little monster?
These DIY dog treats are the perfect party favor for every Halloween pooch.
1. Scarecrow’s Apple Carrot Halloween Dog Cookies
Prep Time: 20 mins
Cook Time: 45 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour 5 minutes
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1 apple, cored and grated
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Core and grate the apples and carrots. You can also use a food processor.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and oats. In a separate bowl, beat the egg, oil, and water until well combined. Add the grated apples and carrots to the wet ingredients. Combine with dry ingredients and mix well.
Roll the dough out into 1/2 inch thickness and use cookie cutters to get the spooky shapes you want for Halloween. Bake for 40-45 minutes until cookies have formed a firm bottom. Let cool and share with your furry best friend.
Store cookies in an airtight container for freshness!
2. Spooky Sweet Potato Homemade Dog Biscuits
Ingredients:
- 1 large sweet potato
- 2 3/4 cups whole wheat flour or rice flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce

Cook Time: 35 minutes
Total Time: 50 minutes
Instructions:
Preheat over to 350 degrees F. Take your sweet potato and prick it several times with a fork or knife to break the skin. Cook in the microwave on high for 5-6 minutes, until the sweet potato is soft enough to mash. Let cool.
Once cool, cut and scoop the insides of the potato into a large mixing bowl. Discard the skins. Add whole wheat flour, eggs, and applesauce into the sweet potato mixture, combining thoroughly until a dough forms.
On a floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/2 an inch thick, and cut out shapes using your desired cookie cutters, or even a pizza cutter if you’re creative! Bake on an ungreased baking sheet or one lined with parchment paper for 35-45 minutes.
3. Perfect Pumpkin Pupcakes
This recipe takes the cake for pumpkin dog treats… PAN-cake that is!
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cooke Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes
Ingredients:
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
- 1/4 cup whole wheat flour or oat flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Instructions:
Preheat a pan or griddle to about 275 degrees F. In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients until smooth. A whisk can be helpful!
Grease the pan or griddle with vegetable oil, and pour or drop about 1/4 cup of the batter onto the pan. Cook until bubbles form in the middle of the pancakes and the edges are firm. Flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes, or until the pancake is cooked through. Voila! Delicious and healthy Halloween pumpkin pancakes for your furry friend.
4. Pumpkin Peanut Butter Halloween Dog Treat Recipes
Use a cookie cutter to make as many spooky shapes. Mummy bones are a popular one.

Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons raw honey
- 1/2 cup natural peanut butter
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 egg
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. In a large mixing bowl, combine all wet ingredients (pumpkin, honey, egg, and water). In a separate bowl, combine dry ingredients. Slowly combine the dry and wet ingredients and mix well. The dough should be moist but stick together well and be easy to roll. Add more flour/water as needed.
Roll your dough out to 1/2 an inch thick, and cut your dog treats any way you choose! Place on a greased cookie sheet and bake for 40 minutes, and you’ve got some yummy treats for your little pumpkin.
5. Fearsome Frozen Blueberry Skull Dog Treats
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes – 1 hour freeze time
Total Time: 45 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 cup plain, non-fat Greek yogurt
- 1/3 cup blueberries
- 1/2 banana, ripe
This may be our easiest recipe yet!
In a blender combine the yogurt, blueberries, and banana until well blended and smooth. Pour the mixture into whichever spooky molds you choose — skulls, bones, ghosts, or any shape you desire!
Freeze the treats for 30 minutes to 1 hour, or until frozen solid. Serve up to your favorite Halloween pup for a cool and creepy treat!
