ADVENTURE PUP – A DAY IN THE LIFE

We sat with Louis, one of our furry co-woofers, on what it’s like being an adventure pup.

“Don’t mind our Lion King moment. I asked her to lift me up so I could be the tallest thing on the mountain.” – Louis, the adventure pup

A playful pup, Louis was often found in Outward Hound headquarters chasing dogs three times his size. His mom, Lunday, describes him as being curious, adventurous, and always enjoys a good nap. When the wave of Monday morning hits and the “how was your weekend, what did you do?” question rolls around, he always has a great adventure story to tell.

So, of course, we had to catch up with Louis to see about his latest adventure!

Meet our co-woofer, Louis! A small guy with a BIG personality.

B: Hi Louis, thank you so much for sitting down with me! It’s always good to see you. I often come across Lunday’s (Louis’ mom) timeline pictures on Facebook of you both outdoors — hiking, hitting the trails, or just sightseeing. You both look like you have such a great time together no matter what you end up doing.

L: Hi Bri, it’s so good to see you again! Yes, mom and I go on A LOT of adventures together. It’s one of my favorite things to do with her. There is never a dull moment.

B: Can you tell us what your day as an adventure pup looks like?

L: Mom likes to be spontaneous when we go on adventures, sometimes we go on the weekends or during the week when she’s done working. (He slightly paused and continued) Speaking of working, I’ve noticed she doesn’t leave for work anymore, do you know why? But I can’t complain, I like it when we are home together. Anyway, most of the time she gives me a paws-up when an adventure is coming. There’s always a lot of prep we have to do when we go on adventures.

L: My least favorite part of being an adventure pup is the car rides…YAWN. Because I am “fun-sized” mom likes to restrain…I mean fasten me safely in my car seat.

L: What feels like an eternity later, we finally arrive. Our latest adventure was to the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. Perfect weather and the views took my woof away.

B: Does Lunday bring any items with her for the outdoor adventures you take?

L: Oh yeah! She is always prepared for trips like this!

B: What are some items she brings along?

L: Always a reliable leash, even though she knows that I like to go where the squirrels take me. She also puts some coat-thing on me. I think she calls it a ‘day pack‘. I’m a little thick, so she makes sure that the fit is snug. But it still gives me enough room to keep up.

Lunday and Louis (in his carrier) a hiking adventure.

L: Sometimes she puts me in a carrier when I want to sit back and enjoy the views. My wittle legs get tired, so it’s nice when she lets me take a break.

L: Per usual, mom brings the best snacks and H20. Cause, you know, those are the essentials. Thankfully, I don’t have to carry those. I’ve seen mom put it on her back legs.

B: Wow you were not kidding, Lunday really is prepared for your outdoor adventures. Do you have any tips or advice to give your fellow adventure pups and their humans?

L: Humans, never never never forget treat and water carriers! Being a fur child, we need this when you take us on any outdoor trip. We can’t keep up with you, without them! Fur amigos, we can’t chase everything we see when we’re outdoors, sometimes we just need to enjoy the views. We can chase birds when we get back home.

B: That’s great advice, Louis. It was great hearing more on your day in the life of an adventure pup. I hope to see you and Lunday back in the office soon.

L: Thanks for pawing around with me. Hope to see you in the office so we can play tug.

*End of interview*

There you have it, folks. That was just one day in the life of an adventure pup. Until next time!
