We all know pups can be incredibly intuitive, but do dogs really know just how much we love them?&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The proof is in the science. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/doglab.yale.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Canine cognition<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the study of dogs&#8217; brains and has shown that when you and your dog interact, a love hormone is released causing you to feel happier and more bonded as best friends. This hormone is called <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC6826447\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oxytocin<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and is the same chemical given off when humans stare at their babies!&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oxytocin is released for both you and your dog when you pet them, play with them, or look at each other. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Studies have shown that dogs tend to lock eyes to show affection, so it&#8217;s safe to say your dog feels the love when you&#8217;re looking longingly at each other.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since dogs can&#8217;t exactly say &#8220;I know you love me and I love you too!&#8221; there are a few other ways animal lovers can be sure the message is clear.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How do I know if my dog feels loved?<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"900\" height=\"840\" src=\"https:\/\/outwardhound.com\/furtropolis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/planetdog-e1629910603979.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16285\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dogs are comfortable showing love when they feel loved themselves. How cute is that?!&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The classic tail wag is always an indicator of a happy pup, but another behavior that shows dogs know you love them is when they press or rub their bodies against your legs, or <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/outwardhound.com\/furtropolis\/dogs\/why-do-dogs-lay-on-your-feet\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lay on your feet<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
